About Dr. Budesa’s Practice

Dr. Budesa completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Rutgers University and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Psychology from Yeshiva University, and her Doctorate in Psychology from University of Denver. Upon finishing her studies, Dr. Budesa entered the Navy, where she served four years as a Navy Psychologist, working with medical, dental, and aviation professionals to support active duty sailors, marines, and their families in the Washington DC area. Upon completion of her commitment, she returned to New Jersey to start and raise her family.

For over 20 years, the focus of Dr. Budesa’s therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral approaches to resolve psychological distress. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, time-limited, and goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that focuses on the interconnection between thinking, feeling, and behaving. It is based on the idea that psychological distress is largely influenced by patterns of thinking and behaviors, which can be identified and changed to improve emotional regulation and mental well-being.

Dr. Budesa’s experience includes traditional CBT approaches as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Treatment often includes a combination of skills training, exposure, behavioral activation, and homework assignments. Our time together in session is used to explore your experiences and learn techniques that are then put into use while you are living your life.
